Neil Shawcross
1940: Born in Kearsly in Lancashire.
Education 1958-61: Studied at Lancaster College of Art
(NND Painting
Special Level)
1953-58: Studied at Bolton College of Art (Intermediate
Certificate)
1960: Part-time lecturer at Lancaster College of Art
1962: Appointed part-time lecturer at the then City of Belfast College
of Art
Neil has exhibited nationally
and internationally in London, Hong Kong, USA and throughout Ireland in
various galleries. He has been the winner of a number of prestigious awards
and is five time recipient of Royal Ulster Academy Gold Medal.
He was elected an Associate member of the RHA in February 2002 and a full
member in April 2003.
His work is represented in many
private and corporate collections, including the Ulster Museum, Ulster
Television, AIB, Aer Rianta and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
